... and the Landhotel Hoisl-Bräu

  • Promberg is mentioned for the first time in a tax book of the Benediktbeuern Monastery for the years 1279 to 1294. At that time, it was a 'Schwaige' (livestock farm) and belonged to the monastery. The owner's name, Hansel Pronberger, can be found in the tax books from 1487.
  • When the farm was taken over by Matheis (Hoisl) Pronberg in 1679, the name 'Hoisl' remained as the farm name. Over time, Pronberg evolves into Promberg. Later, Promberg becomes a district of Penzberg.
  • On October 26, 1829, the farmer Josef Baur from 'Hoisl' is granted permission to serve beer. By 1864, the inn on the Hoisl property is already approved as a tavern.
  • In 1884, Josef Baur (III) establishes a brown beer brewery on his property, which is named 'Hoisl-Bräu' after the house name.
  • In 1935, Therese and Josef Günthner take over the business from Rosa Baur. The 'Hoisl' brewery ceases beer production in 1960.
  • In 1970, the daughter of the house, Maria Günther, marries Mr. Fritz Gattinger, and both dedicate themselves with great effort to the continuation of the inn.
  • In 1983/1984, the restaurant area on the ground floor is renovated and rebuilt.
  • In 2001, the daughter Maria Gattinger marries Volker Dehmelt. The young couple joins the business the same year. Due to this expansion, the family decides to convert the upper floors into a small country hotel. Construction begins in September 2001, and the opening takes place in June 2002.

  • On September 8, 2003, junior Maximilian, is born, followed by his sister Isabella on February 23, 2010.

  • In 2005, the house is awarded 3 stars for the first time.

  • Since 2007, the 'young ones,' Maria and Volker, have taken over the management of Hoisl-Bräu.

  • In 2020, the spread of the coronavirus poses significant challenges to our industry. Political decisions are often incomprehensible and unfairly made, dealing with the situation has taken a toll on many nerves, and it has demanded many additional hours of work. Currently, we are still trying to mitigate the ongoing consequences and navigate the 'Hoisl ship through turbulent waters' once again, now also facing challenges related to the Ukraine conflict.

  • At present, we are investing in a photovoltaic system to stay abreast of energy and environmental technologies. Electric vehicle charging stations are also planned as part of this initiative.
